A five-member taem has been appointed to select the district and electoral organizers of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) who are seeking to contest separately in the forthcoming elections without forming an alliance with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).
The panel is headed by Secretary General of the SLFP, Minister of State Dayasiri Jayasekara and includes Minister of Environment Mahinda Amaraweera, Minister of State Duminda Dissanayake, Member of Parliament Shan Wijayalal Silva and Senior Adviser to the SLFP Prof. Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa.
The first interview to select suitable members as district and electoral organizers for the provincial council elections to be held early next year is scheduled to begin tomorrow (27) at the party headquarters.
“The party headquarters has received thousands of applications from all 25 districts for consideration for SLFP posts. We request about 300 candidates to appear before the interview board at the party office on Wednesday at 9.00 am, ”an SLFP spokesman said.
“Educated youth will be given priority as electoral organizers. Political experience will also be taken into account in the selection of district organizers. That is the first and foremost qualification, “the spokesman said.
