Dr. Vijith Gunasekera the former chief executive of the Drug Regulatory Authority, was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department last evening.
According to sources from the Criminal Investigation Department, he was called at around 9 am yesterday and questioned for a long time based on the information received regarding irregularities related to drug approvals.
After nearly 10 hours of questioning, he was arrested and will be produced in court tomorrow.
Due to the accusations related to him, he was accused throughout the past and he was removed from that position on November 8 last year. In addition to this, a Dravidian businessman connected to the drug supply network is also being questioned, according to sources in the Criminal Investigation Department.
