According to the constitution of the party, Sajith Premadasa and Ranjith Maddumabandara, who were unfit to hold positions in the party, will be expelled from the party, and appoint suitable persons to take the party forward, Capt Senaka Silva the leader of Ape Janabala Party, later named as Samagi Jana Balawegaya said.
Addressing in a press conference he further said that a case has already been filed against Ranjith Maddumabandara and Sajith Premadasa. The case will continue and they will be expelled from party positions.
Capt Senaka Silva the life partner of expelled MP Diana Gamage said that he and Diana gave their party to the Samagi Jana Balavegaya party and made Mr. Sajith Premadasa the leader of the party. Diana Gamage left and gave the general secretaryship to Ranjith Madduma Bandara.
“At that time, Sajith Premadasa and Ranjith Maddumabandara were members of the United National Party. The constitution of the party was changed and both came together.
Sajith was given the power to lead the party. We are lifetime members of the party. After that, the constitution of the party was changed and a clause was taken saying that the names of this party cannot be in any other party if you are in this party, only in this party, or everyone’s positions will be canceled.
Now according to this party constitution, no one can be in two parties. Neither Sajith Premadasa nor Ranjith Maddumabandara can stay in this party anymore other than Dr.Harsha de Silva. He has resigned from the United National Party membership.
