Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa hinted yesterday at Ampara that Sri Lanka Freedom Party’s Chandrika Bandaranaike team will join the Samagi Jana Balawegaya.
Premadasa stated this while presenting the Samagi Jana Balavega’s Farmers’ Declaration.
The opposition leader further said that D.S. Senanayake took steps for the Senanayake Samudra tank of Ampara and built a great irrigation civilization while Dudley Senanayake created the Badalgama Reservoir, Ambalan Oya, Loggal Oya, Pallam Oya. Sirimavo Bandaranaike implemented the Namal Oya movement of Ampara. He told the Ampara farmer community to wait for Mrs. Bandaranaike’s party to join SJB.
Speaking at the meeting Sajith Premadasa insisted that the SJB would not be a party that sells all the resources such as valuable dairy lands to multi-national companies but so-called socialist leaders who claim themselves as an alternative to the country leadership also agreed to sell those national properties.
He further said that all the institutions related to agriculture such as land, land development, Irrigation, and Mahaweli will be brought under a single ministry under an SJB government to create a hassle-free environment for the agricultural community.
