Security forces have decided to call a chemical expert from Colombo to Jaffna as they cannot identify the narcotic substance similar to ice drugs found in a house in the Inuvil area of Jaffna.
A police team engaged in the “Yukthiya” operation found a small laboratory in a room of a house in the Inuvil area of Jaffna and found evidence that the drug ice had been manufactured at that place.
The police also believe that this person may have sold a substance similar to the ice drug that was kept in this house as ice drug to buyers in many areas.
The mastermind who ran this laboratory and his wife had fled and the police were able to arrest two employees who worked there and a lot of laboratory equipment.
The wife of the person who ran this laboratory worked as a nurse in a private hospital in Jaffna, and the police believe that she may have supplied her husband with the chemicals needed to prepare ice drugs.
The house where the laboratory was rented by the couple on a rental basis and two workers were employed there.
The mastermind who produced the ice drug is a strongman of the “Ava group” which has been operating in Jaffna for some time and he has been acquitted in three of the four cases against him in the Jaffna court.
Later, he gave up all hooliganism and lived in this house on rent and in a small laboratory set up in that house, the production of ice drugs has been going on for some time, according to the police.
The police, who are interrogating the two arrested, have also arrested the owner of the house.
He told the police that it had been more than a year since he rented the house and that he did not know what happened in that house.
