The post-mortem examination of the body of the 32-year-old Danish woman, Karen Munk Ebbesen, who was discovered on the slopes of Alagalla mountain, was conducted yesterday (18) at the Kandy National Hospital by expert forensic doctor R.P. Jayasuriya. The autopsy findings reveal that her death was caused by multiple blunt force injuries to her face, chest, and abdomen.
Based on the examination and the facts observed at the scene of the incident, the injuries are consistent with a fall from a high place, leading the forensic officer to suggest that the multiple injuries were likely caused by the fall.
The police reported that the father of the deceased woman had authorized the Danish Embassy in India to conduct the post-mortem examination. Subsequently, the funeral arrangements will be carried out in Denmark.
After submitting the forensic medical report to the Kandy Additional Magistrate, the body was taken to a private funeral parlor in Colombo yesterday (18) afternoon.
Karen Munk Ebbesen, who had left the shelter in Ampitiya area on the 10th, was found four days later near the Alagalla hill. The circumstances surrounding her death are currently under investigation.
