The 38-year-old Danish woman who was missing for four days was found dead in Alagalla.
The Kandy police launched a special operation to find a missing Danish woman who had been missing for four days during her visit to Sri Lanka. The 38-year-old woman had stayed at a hotel in the Ampitiya area of Kandy before disappearing.
The hotel management lodged a complaint with the Kandy Tourism Police when the woman failed to return to the hotel after leaving Monday (10) morning. Further investigations revealed that she had taken a pick me taxi service vehicle from the hotel to Alagalla.
The police have discovered the body of the Danish woman. It has been revealed that she was involved in an accident while walking in Kadugannawa, Alagalla hill. The woman had been traveling alone in Sri Lanka since the 26th of June.
On Monday (10) she has stated that she was going for a walk and was dropped off in the Alagalla area by a pickup truck. Concerned when she did not return to the hostel she was staying at, the manager registered a complaint with the Kandy Tourist Police yesterday (13). It was discovered that there had been no information about her whereabouts for three days.
A search operation conducted by the police and the Special Task Force in the Alagalla area led to the discovery of the woman’s body. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and the Ministry of External Affairs has been informed of the incident.
