The chief Habor Master has ordered that the Chinese ship Hippo Spirit, which forcibly entering to Sri Lanka Port of Colombo with 15,000-20,000 metric tons of organic fertilizer containing pathogenic bacteria, should not be allowed into any port in Sri Lanka.

The hippo spirit is currently reported to have stopped 12 nautical miles off Dondra Point.

This is the closest boundary to a port in Sri Lanka and the ship is not anchored, port sources said.

It is reported that the ship is currently being monitored at all ports in the island.

The ship, which left a Chinese Port on the 23rd of September before the release of the Sri Lanka laboratory results on the fertilizer samples, later stopped arriving in Sri Lanka and left for Singapore.

The Agriculture authorities were not aware of such a voyage until the Chinese Fertilizer Company informed the Director General of Agriculture on the 22nd that the ship was ready to enter the Port of Colombo on the 23rd.

Thereafter, the Director General of Agriculture, using his powers, issued a written notice to the Commander-in-Chief preventing the ship from entering the Port of Colombo.
