The Minister of Highways Johnston Fernando has instructed to his Ministry’s Secretary Mr. Ranjith Pemasiri to look into the possibility facilitate expressway users to buy their Electronic Toll Cards (ETC) from Vehicle Emission Test Centers.

.
As the electronic payment system is currently used only on the Colombo-Katunayake Expressway, ETC Prepaid Cards are currently issued only at the Expressway Offices at Seeduwa, Ja-Ela and Kelaniya Pantheon Junction.

The Minister said that in future, electronic payment systems (ETCs) will be installed at the Kerawalapitiya Interchange and other expressway interchanges, hence making it easier for the public to obtain Prepaid ETC Cards at Vehicle Emission Testing Centers.

The Minister further said that this would reduce traffic congestion at the expressway exits through the introduction of electronic payment ETC prepaid cards for frequent users.
