A team of surgeons in Kandy, Hill capital of Sri Lanka has removed 13.5 liters of fat from the abdomen of an obese woman during a successful Liposuction surgery. This operation was performed by a team led by surgeon Dr. Ananda Jayawardena at a private hospital in Kandy.

Dr. Ananada Jayawardena says that although such surgeries are usually performed, in such cases, between 4-5 liters of fat is removed and such a large amount of fat removal surgery has not been reported not only in Sri Lanka or the South Asian region but also in any other country in the world.

According to the surgeon, this woman underwent an operation to remove the fat in the abdominal cavity called liposuction and it took about three hours.

The woman who underwent the operation is a 61-year-old retired teacher and a mother of one. She has been living a very stressful life due to conditions such as high blood pressure, obesity, back pain, and difficulty in walking. She has undergone bariatric surgery. After that, the doctor said that due to the rapid reduction in her body weight, she was able to walk easily. After the surgery, the stomach was protruding further and enlarged, so yesterday (12) steps were taken to remove the fat from the abdominal cavity.
