The vibrant Randoli Perahera, the final perahara of the revered Kandy Esala Perahera, is currently captivating the streets, drawing a massive crowd of spectators.
The procession commenced its journey at 7:03 pm from the Dalada Maligawa, embarking on a route that includes Dalada Street, Yatinuvara Street, Kande Street, DS Senanayake Street, along the Raja Street.
At the heart of the procession is the Kataragama Vasana Athu, bearing the sacred tooth relic. Accompanied by dance groups that showcase various elements the Sri Lankan arts culture, the procession is a mesmerizing display of tradition and history.
Magnificent Sinharaja elephant, symbolizing the palace elephants, grace the right side of the procession, while the left side is adorned by the majestic Kandula elephant of Kelaniya.
On this concluding day of the Esala Perahara’s Randoli segment, the Ganda Kuti, where the revered tooth relic resides within the palace premises, is bedecked with an array of fragrant flowers. Under the guidance of Tibbattuwave Medhankara Thero, the floral decorations are a mark of devotion, offering worship to the sacred Tooth Relic.
