Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) says seven members of the ICC World Cup qualifiers in Harare, Zimbabwe, have been infected with Covid.

With the spread of the new omicron virus strain in six countries, including Zimbabwe and South Africa, the ICC arrangements are being made to cancel the qualifiers in Harare and expel the teams from Zimbabwe immediately.

Currently, it is reported that the infected are being held in Zimbabwe and the rest of the group is scheduled to return to Sri Lanka via Dubai. It is reported that due to the ban currently imposed on visitors to five countries including Zimbabwe, measures have been taken to quarantine the group arriving in Sri Lanka under strict security measures.

The tour consisted of 20 players and 10 support staff.
