Two more gas explosions were reported from Arachchikattuwa in Kegalle and Puttalam today(28).
A fire broke out at a house in the Kahatapitiya area in Kegalle this morning with a large explosion.
The owner of the house had told the media that the stove had exploded and pieces of it had been scattered all over the kitchen.
The other blast was reported from a house in the Wairankattuwa area in Arachchikattuwa, Puttalam.
Police reported that a fire broke out this afternoon when the resident was going to install a gas cylinder obtained from the shop.
Consumer Affairs Lasantha Alagiyawanna stated that there is no problem with gas.
There was a big debate in Parliament yesterday regarding this and the Minister of State for Consumer Affairs Lasantha Alagiyawanna stated that samples have been sent to two laboratories to test the gas composition to confirm this.
The Minister of State for Consumer Affairs stated that a full report on this will be presented to Parliament tomorrow.
