Shammi Silva, Chairman of Sri Lanka Cricket, has decided to resign from his position.
He announced this decision at an Executive Committee meeting held this afternoon (28).
Mr. Silva was first elected as Chairman of Sri Lanka Cricket in 2019 and has served in the role for seven years.
On several occasions in the past, various allegations have been made against him and the cricket administration. In this context, recent media reports stated that the government had informed the current cricket administration to step down.
A group, including a manager of cricket players who is currently the subject of intense discussion, along with several senior cricketers, has reportedly met with top levels of the government and lodged complaints against the current cricket administration.
