Four persons including former Minister Basil Rajapaksa were acquitted and released by the Colombo High Court in connection with the Divineguma case.
Former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa and four others had been accused of misusing government funds by providing housing assistance to Divi Neguma beneficiaries at a cost of Rs. 2,292 million belonging to the Divineguma Development Fund during the 2015 presidential election.
Accordingly, the former Minister as well as the former Director General of the Divineguma Development Department Kithsiri Ranawaka, the former Deputy Director General of the Divineguma Development Department Bandula Thilakasiri and the former Secretary to the Ministry of Economic Development Dr. Nihal Jayatilake have been acquitted.
