Magistrate refers Welisara boy did a serious offence similar to Yangalmodara accident!

Referring the fatal accident caused by a 16 year school boy at Welisara yesterday Welisara Magistrate Heshan De Mel stressed that it was a serious offense similar to Polgahawela Yangalmodara train bus accident which took many lives of bus passengers and  referred the case to the Attorney General today (05) .

Taking case today The Magistrate ordered to remand the suspect, 16 year boy who caused a fatal accident and his father for 14 days to 19th November.

The suspects were identified as Mohamed Raxan Abdullah, 16, of Mahabage, No. 71A, St. Mary’s Road, Welisara, and Bastian Nespri Suranjith Chandralal alias Mohammed Abdul, 47.

 

The boy was driving a black colored Mitsubishi Montero Sports – jeep with registration number of KS – 4893.

 

Mahabage Police have charged the student involved in the accident with driving without a license, reckless driving, causing an accident, causing serious injury and causing death (Ceylon Penal Code 298 329, 328, 151/3, 149/1,). 123/1a) and employed a minor without a driver’s license (298 329, 328 of the Motor Vehicles Act 298 123/1a) of the Penal Code.

 

The 16-year-old schoolboy who was following the deceased’s motorcycle is currently receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the Colombo National Hospital in a critical condition.

 

Mahabaga Police OIC Chief Inspector Subhash Priyadarshana directed OIC of the Mahabaga Police Traffic Division Inspector Ramesh Nalindatha Fernando to conduct investigations and arrest the culprits and bring them to justice.
