“My son has taken away the jeep while i was in a bath” Father of the teenager who caused havoc in Welisara tells

The father of the teenager who caused a fatal accident in Welisara of Negambo road has stated that the son had taken the jeep when he had gone to the bathroom after washing the vehicle at home without permission.

“I washed the car and took a shower. I had to be in Colombo by nine o’clock in the morning. Son was not to go anywhere. He has just taken the vechicle and left without notice and caused this havoc. ”

One person was killed and three werre injured when a jeep traveling from Colombo to Negombo collided with a car, a three-wheeler and two motorcycles traveling in the opposite direction.The jeep toppled and other vehicles too severley damaged .

The accident took place at around 9.30 am today and a 16-year-old boy was driving the jeep, police said.

An injured person is in critical condition following the accident, police spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said. Police have released CCTV footage of the accident.

Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy who drove the jeep and his father, the owner of the car.
