Former Sri Lanka Cricket captain Sanath Jayasuriya has been appointed as the interim head coach of Sri Lanka Cricket SundayTimes reported.
Jayasuriya was appointed in the vacancy created by Chris Silverwood’s resignation. He will coach the team for two upcoming tours until a new coach assumes the task duties. Sri Lanka cricket has been looking for a new coach since Silverwood gave his resignation however it has not been successful.
Sri Lanka’s immediate focus will be on the six limited overs series against India, which includes three ODIs and three T20Is. This will be followed by a three-match Test series in England.
Since his appointment as Sri Lanka Cricket’s full-time “Cricket Consultant” last December, Jayasuriya has been actively involved in the supervision of both players and coaches at the High-Performance Center in Khettarama.
