President Ranil Wickremesinghe has disclosed with former President Mahinda Rajapaksa that he hopes to call for another election also while assuring a Presidential election this year.
As reported by the Sunday Times, the English Weekend President has revealed this fact while in a closed discussion with Mahinda Rajapaksa, SLPP founder Basil Rajapaksa, and the President’s Chief of Staff Sagala Ratnayake.
The meeting was held last Wednesday at the President’s official residence at Mahagama Sekera Mawatha.
When Mahinda asked, “Are you having the presidential election?”.
President Wickremesinghe promptly replied “Yes,”. the newspaper reported. He further revealed that he was also hoping to call for another election.
However, President Wickeresinghe refrained from revealing what will be the next election in his mind.
but did not disclose what it would be.
The foursome gathered for a breakfast meeting. The foods comprised Kiribath, Hoppers, and string hoppers. The three guests were offered various curries and desserts to add, the report further said.
However, reportedly Mahinda Rajapaksa or Basil have not asked the president, what would be the next election. SundayTines further reported that they have had a lengthy discussion over the proposed amendments to the local government elections.
