Informed sources said that when a group of MPs from SLPP proposed to the former President’s family members led by Mahinda Rajapaksa recently that the former President (Gotabaya) should be appointed as a Member of Parliament and appoint him as Prime Minister after his arrival in Sri Lanka, they expressed their vehement opposition to it.
According to the above sources, members of the Rajapaksa family said that what Gotabhaya Rajapaksa should do today is to live a peaceful life and not to get involved in politics and create unnecessary issues once again.
Namal Rajapaksa, the nephew of the former President, was not among the MPs who were at the airport to receive Gotabhaya Rajapaksa this morning.
The majority opinion in the SLPP is that Gotabhaya Rajapaksa should not return to politics
