More than 35 government ministers and parliamentarians have arrived at the Katunayake Airport to welcome former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who arrived in Sri Lanka in the wee hours of this morning.
A group of MPs, including Prasanna Ranatunga, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Ramesh Pathirana, Rohitha Abeygunawardena, Kanchana Wijesekera, Indika Anuruddha, Tiran Alas, Sagara Kariyawasam, Madhura Withana, Prasanna Ranaweera, and Nalin Fernando, were seen at the Katunayake Airport premises since 11 last night.
After arriving at the Katunayake Airport at around 12.05 am, the former President and his wife stayed for more than half an hour in the special guest room in the VIP lounge and discussed an array of matters.
The parliamentary representation, including the Ministers, has informed the President that the security and accommodation of the former President have been arranged as required.
Opinions have been exchanged here about the current course of the government as well as the events that have happened in the past.
Accordingly, a young member of the Podu Jana Peramuna told Lankasara that he did not discuss anything about whether Gotabhaya Rajapaksa would take to politics or not.
The MP further stated that a group of MPs supportive of him are ready to discuss Gotabhaya Rajapakse’s future political activities with him.
Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Ayoma Rajapaksa were then escorted to the residence allocated for them in Colombo under strict security measures.
