President Ranil Wickramasinghe pledged today that his government focuses on the full implementation of the 13th Constitutional Amendment in the next few years.
The President stated this while attending the state Thaipongal festival in Jaffna. Speaking on this occasion, the President stated that he plans to fully enforce the 13th Constitutional Amendment because it is not only a problem in the North.
The President said that not only from the North but the Chief Ministers from the South are also asking him to enforce this 13th constitutional amendment.
The President invited the people of the North to continue these activities systematically in the next two years.
“Today poverty, hunger, and unemployment are not limited to Tamils or Sinhalese. We all suffer. We all have to come together. So today there are not only problems for the Tamils in the north. There are other issues to discuss. ”
“So, after these discussions, I will start the second round by bringing MPs and parliamentary party leaders, especially those representing the Dravidian people in the mountains. By integrating the Tamil people of the hills into our entire society, we will give them the rights enjoyed by the Sinhalese Tamil Muslims and enjoy the society as well.”
