Sriyani Wijesinghe –
On the suspicions that the government is planning to sell the postal department, it has been decided to hold a massive satyagraha in front of the main post office on February 01 in protest against the move Chinthaka Bandara, co-convener of the Postal Trade Union Front said.

He pointed out that even though there are many vacancies in the postal department, the government is not working to fill those vacancies.

The co-convenor has said that the problem of daily distribution of letters has arisen when there is a huge shortage of junior staff and this problem has had a severe impact on the rural areas.

He also pointed out that since there has been a severe shortage of grade 1 officers, and sub-postmasters for many years, it has not been possible to provide proper service to the customers who come to get the postal service.
