Police says that it is expecting a court permission to detain and interrogate three persons including the convenor of the Inter University Students Federation Wasantha Mudalige, who were arrested during a demonstration held by the Inter-University Student Union yesterday (18) for investigation related to the incidents related to the struggle since April 09 till date.
According to a media release issued by the Police Media Spokesperson’s office, it is said that the three suspects namely Wasantha Mudalige, Galwewa Siridhamma Thero and Hashantha Bhavantu Gunathilaka are to be referred by the police to the Fort Magistrate and court permission is to be obtained for their detention.
Yesterday (18) 19 suspects were arrested by the Cinnamon Gardens , Borella and Slave Island police stations during the protest march for being members of an unruly crowd. According to the police, there are four monks among these suspects. Arrest orders are being obtained for questioning three of them.
