State Minister Diana Gamage, prior to her admission to Jayawardenepura Hospital following allegations of physical assault, lodged a complaint against Sujith Sanjay Perera, Member of Parliament for the Kegalle District from the Samagi Jana Balawega party, with Welikada Police. She asserted that she had been physically assaulted by Perera.

In response to the alleged incident, Gamage made a statement in Parliament approximately an hour and a half after the confrontation, and subsequently filed the complaint with Welikada Police. Hospital sources have confirmed that she was discharged after three hours of hospitalization.

In turn, MP Sujith Sanjay Perera, who was accused in this matter, filed a counter-complaint with Mirihana Police, claiming that State Minister Diana Gamage verbally abused him and struck him with a handbag.

Additionally, Rohana Bandara, a Member of Parliament for the Anuradhapura District and reportedly the target of Diana Gamage’s verbal attack, submitted a complaint to Mirihana Police. Bandara alleged that Gamage had confronted her in the midst of a crowd, using extremely derogatory and offensive language.
