State Minister Diana Gamage, who was admitted to Sri Jayawardenepura Hospital following an assault by Kegalle District Member of Parliament Sujith Sanjay Perera within the Parliament premises, has reportedly left the hospital after a brief three-hour stay.
In response to the concerning incident, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena has taken action by appointing a committee to investigate the matter.
The committee, led by the Deputy Speaker, includes the following members: MPs Chamal Rajapaksa, Ramesh Pathirana, Gayantha Karunathilake, and Imtiaz Bakir Marker. Their mandate is to thoroughly investigate the complaints received from both parties involved and to submit a prompt report.
