Members of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) and several opposition parties are poised to take up party positions in the United National Party shortly. Insiders told the Lankasara.
Accordingly, the same sources confirmed that in addition to the SLPP members of the SJB (Samagi Jana Bala Wegaya), the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and a group of members of the independent parliamentary group in Parliament are likely to join the United National Party soon.
The same sources said that among those joining the United National Party are several ministers currently representing the cabinet.
These MPs will compete under the United National Party in the upcoming general election, and plans are now underway to appoint them as UNP electoral organizers in the areas they represent.
