Despite the Police sending out six teams to locate MP Rishard Bathiudeen and arrest him, the law enforcement agencies have still failed to locate him. According to sources Bathiudeen had been heading from Mannar to Colombo yesterday (14). However, upon hearing a voice cut of the AG’s PA State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne claiming the MP can be arrested without a warrant and the Police have therefore been instructed to do so, the MP had hurriedly disembarked from his vehicle en route and sent his vehicle to Colombo instead.

The jeep had arrived in Colombo and police had arrested three of Rishad Badurdeen’s close associates and his security guard attached to the Ministerial Security Division. Police sources told Lankasara that efforts are being made to arrest the former minister through investigations, by interrogating the arrested persons.

The Police have also searched the MPs houses in Mannar and Colombo but have failed to locate the MP according to Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana.

The Attorney General had instructed to arrest him on several charges, including misappropriation of public property in connection with giving transportation to voting centers by SLTB busses to  IDPs on the day of the Presidential Election on November 16 last year.
