Popular singer K. Sujeewa, one of the individuals injured in Athurugiriya tattoo studio incident underwent surgery for more than five hours, Colombo National Hospital officials revealed. They revealed Sujeewa is suffering from severe damage to her legs and underwent a complex surgery and a team of four was involved in the surgery. Hospital sources said that the surgical team consisted of an orthopedic surgeon, a vascular surgeon, Neuro and plastic surgeons.
Meanwhile, the wife of the deceased businessman Wasantha Perera is currently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit at Homagama Hospital.
The police are currently investigating the incident, and the vehicle used by the gunmen was found in Kaduwela Koratota. According to the police, the gunmen transferred to a van, which was later abandoned in Bulathsinghala.
The police said investigations revealed an issue between Wasantha Perera and Kanjipani Imran. Police sources also revealed that investigators are paying special attention to the bullet casings that bear the letters “KPI.” Police sources further noted that investigators are considering the possibility that the shootout was the result of a personal disagreement.
Meanwhile, the police said that a revolver was also found at the scene, inside the purse of the deceased Surendra Wasantha Perea (Club Wasantha)’s wife.
K. Sujeewa is a renowned singer in Sri Lanka, known for her hit song “Ingimarana Tharu Raana.” She has performed at numerous musical events. A mother of two daughters, she has openly spoken about her two failed marriages and is often portrayed as a strong, independent single parent.
