General Secretary of Ceylon Teachers Union Joseph Stalin who was in remand custody , was ordered to be released on bail by Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court Thilina Gamage today.The
Magistrate ordered to release him on two sureties of Rs.500,000.
He was arrested and remanded for allegedly violating a court order while engaged in a protest at Bank of Ceylon Mawatha last May 28.
Initially, Stalin had been remanded till August 12 th , however, lawyers appeared on behalf of Mr Stalin filed a motion on last Friday requesting an early date in order to support a fresh bail application.
