In a recent gazette notice, the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs announced the appointment of an interim committee to conduct an impartial, transparent, and trustworthy investigation into corruption, irregularities, misconduct, and failures within cricket. This committee will be empowered to take appropriate action based on the recommendations outlined in the Auditor General’s audit report dated September 11, 2023.
The interim committee, composed of seven members, will also oversee the effective functioning of the Sri Lanka Cricket Institute until further notice or the holding of elections. Their duties include conducting independent and transparent investigations to ensure that the issues highlighted in the Auditor General’s report do not recur.
