Indian High Commissioner Santhosh Jha has advised political parties in the North and East of Sri Lanka to contest the upcoming parliamentary elections together based on a common agreement.

The High Commissioner gave this advice during a recent meeting in Colombo with political leaders representing North and East political parties.

Speaking to the media in Vavuniya, Selvam Adeikkalanathan mentioned that the Indian High Commissioner emphasized the importance of Tamil political parties not working separately. He expressed his hope that by working together, Tamil political parties could win more seats in the general election.

The High Commissioner also said that if the Tamil political parties united, there would be a better opportunity to negotiate with the government and reach favorable decisions for the Tamil community.
