President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa will officiate at the felicitation ceremony for the appointment of new Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Ven Muruththettuwe Ananda Thera at the Nelumpokuna Theater on the 11th of this month.
He was appointed Chancellor of the University of Colombo by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
The letter of appointment was handed over to Ven. Ananda Thera on November 02 and he assumed duties as the new Chancellor on November 17.
Ananda Thera is the President of the Public Service United Nurses’ Association, who continues to hold office despite protests.
Ven Ananda Rhera said that he will hold the post of Chancellor but will not give up any trade union.
