The Alliance of Health Services Trade Unions has announced that discussions held today (12) between health trade unions, the Ministry of Health, and Treasury officials regarding the DAT allowance were unsuccessful.
Chanaka Dharmawickrama, president of the union representing government radiological technology officers, stated that despite demands for the DAT allowance to be commensurate with the basic salary of other health professionals, equivalent to the 35,000 rupees allowance provided to doctors, Treasury and Ministry of Health officials have cited an inability to meet this amount presently.
In light of the failed negotiations, union leaders within the alliance are scheduled to convene today (12) to deliberate on potential future courses of action. The outcome of this meeting will determine the next steps to be taken by the trade unions concerning the DAT allowance issue.
