The GMOA has issued a stern warning, indicating that it will make the highest possible decision during its central committee meeting scheduled for the 25th as a trade union. Their objective is to put an end to the perceived corrupt practices within the Ministry of Health.
Dr. Haritha Aluthage, the association’s secretary, expressed his concerns, emphasizing the urgency of addressing issues within the healthcare sector. He likened the situation to a cancer that requires swift surgical intervention, even if it entails amputating a limb to save the patient.
Dr. Aluthage stressed that the President cannot evade this issue, and immediate action is imperative to find a resolution. He emphasized that when the public loses faith in the healthcare system, they have nowhere else to turn.
The secretary pointed out the stark contrast between ministers who have the luxury of seeking medical treatment abroad at the expense of the presidential fund while people in rural areas struggle to afford transportation costs to access medical care in the city.
One particularly distressing concern highlighted by Dr. Aluthage is the gravity of transactions related to immunoglobulin antibodies. He described the situation as serious and tragic, emphasizing that there has never been a time in the country’s history when people’s lives were put at such risk.
