Fuel crisis in January !  Gammanpila  strikes the issue on Basil !

Three officials of Airports and Aviation Limited (AASL) have been suspended for allegedly defaming Sri Lanka in the international aviation industry by stripping the nation for $ 48 and launching a special investigation into the delay retired Chairman Major General G.A. Chandrasiri has told the media.

The incident took place on September 26 when a Maldives bound Boeing 767 air craft belonging to German Condor Air, made an emergency landing with 226 passengers from Frankfurt, Germany to the Maldives.

The air craft crew faced difficulties when they prepared to pay due Airport charges as they did not have dollars to pay. Although they were directed to few Point Of Sales machines to pay charges with their bank cards all the paying machines were out of order. That issue took further time delayed to take off the flight and the crew were charged with addition 48 Dollars to pay the delay created due to short comings of the BIA. That ran in to controversy as the reputation of the country became challenged due to unwanted payment of 48 Dollars.
