A stabbing incident occurred at the Trincomalee Navy base when two intoxicated navy soldiers, both residing in their accommodation, engaged in a violent altercation causing for one of them to die. The victim, a 36-year-old marine from the Kandegedara Matale area, sustained fatal stab wounds to the chest.
Hospital sources confirmed that the victim was brought to the outpatient department of Trincomalee Hospital yesterday (08) morning. The Trincomalee Port Police, responsible for the investigation, disclosed that the altercation unfolded following a drinking session involving four Navy personnel stationed at the Trincomalee Naval Base.
The dispute turned violent after two of the four individuals left the scene. The suspected sailor involved in the incident, a 42-year-old resident of Matale Imbulgolla area, has been arrested by the Port Police. The Trincomalee Police continue their investigation into this tragic incident.
