Marco Perera, President of the Golden Key Depositors Association, stated during a hearing at the Supreme Court, that late businessman Deshmanya Lalith Kotalawala was under house arrest before his death. This revelation was made during the Fundamental Rights Petition hearing, and the court scheduled the next hearing for May 08, 2024.
Deshmanya Lalit Kotalawala, a former Chairman of Ceylinco Consolidated and the founding Chairman of Ceylon Bank, passed away on October 21. He was a prominent figure in Sri Lankan business and was once the country’s wealthiest individual.
