A patient who was being treated at the Hambantota Hospital for Covid 19 has died suddenly today (10) according to the Director of the hospital Dr. Suranga Ubeysekara. According to sources he was to be released from hospital today after recovering from Covid 19.
The deceased has been identified as a 46 year old resident of Hettigoda, Kelaniya.
The victim was admitted to the Covid Unit of the Hambantota General Hospital on the 1st of this month. However he had suffered a cardiac arrest today while waiting to leave the hospital. He was admitted to the emergency unit but had passed away later.
The Director of the Hambantota Hospital stated that the patient had previously suffered from a heart attack.
