The Criminal Investigation Department is examining the CCTV data in search of an unknown foreign figure who gave information to former President Maithripala Sirisena about the people behind the Easter Sunday terror attack which took place on 21st April 2019 in Sri Lanka, sources said.

The Criminal Investigation Department recorded a long statement recently from the former President who was in the office when the Easter Sunday attack took place. The statement was taken based on the former leader’s remarks made in Kandy on the people behind the attack. According to the statement given by former President Sirisena, it has been learned that he met the foreign spy at a special ceremony held at a foreign envoy’s official residence recently.

It is reported that the former president said that the person who was sitting next to him joined the conversation with him and that he had disclosed this information.

However, the former president is said to have informed the CID that the identity of this person has not been declared and that he can be identified if he is seen again.
