Former President Maithripala Sirisena has stirred controversy by claiming that he knows the individuals behind the heinous Easter Sunday attacks that claimed the lives of thousands five years ago.

Speaking to the media after attending the opening ceremony of the Upali Anunahimi Dharma Mandir at the Asgiri Gedige Rajamaha Vihara premises, the former President made this startling revelation. “No one may still know who really did the Easter attack. But I know who they are…” he declared.

Sirisena stated that he is prepared to disclose this information if requested or ordered by the court, emphasizing that it is the duty of judges to maintain confidentiality regarding his statement.

He further highlighted ongoing judicial proceedings against terrorists arrested in connection with the Easter attacks, suggesting that those captured were involved in the atrocity.
