A brawl at Panadura railway station involving railway employees and another group of individuals has left several people injured, including the Station Master (Operations) and a railway employee, according to Panadura Hospital sources.
It is confirmed that four individuals and two railway staff members have been transported to the hospital as a result of the altercation that took place at Panadura railway station earlier today.
Panadura South Police have taken action by arresting a father and son in connection with the assault on railway workers. The son is currently under police protection while receiving medical treatment at the hospital.
The arrested individuals, a 50-year-old man, and a 23-year-old man from Panadura Sagara Mawatha, are believed to have been involved in the altercation, which reportedly stemmed from a dispute over ticketing.
Following the ongoing investigation, the suspects are scheduled to appear before the Panadura Magistrate’s Court.
Under the directives of Senior Superintendent of Police Samantha Vedage, Assistant Superintendent of Police Nishantha Senaratne is leading the investigation, with the guidance of Station Commander (Web) Chief Inspector Chamila Nissanka.
