Bishops concern over past records of the head of One Country One Law task force !

The Catholic Bishp’s conference has issued a statement emphasizing that none of the past records of Ven.Galagodatthte Gnanasara Thero have been considered when he appoint to the Presidential Task force for One Country One Law. They further stress that since this task force is not appropriate with constitution and should be revoked.

The concept of one country, one law should complement the administration of the country and should be bound up with the constitution of the country, but they say that by using outsiders picked up by a special gazette notification to implement it, they are doing this in disregard of the legitimate legislature.They have pointed out that no any Tamil, Hindu, Catholic or christian representaions in the task force hence it has loosen an opportunity to study on One country one law concept.

On behalf of the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of Sri Lanka It;s President Bishop Winston S. Fernando, Bishop of Badulla and its Secretary General JD Anthony Jayakody, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese has issued the statement.In the statement Bishops Conference have expressed their concerns over the depreciation of the values and depth of the democratic principals of the country following the meeting with parliamentarians of the government and the opposition.
