Basil’s trip to India disrupted due to ‘schedule’ issue in Delhi!

Although Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa was planing to visit India today, it is reported that a specific date for that visit has not been decided yet. According to diplomatic sources, Indian diplomats have been informed through the Ministry of External Affairs that the Finance Minister could take action regarding the visit Delhi today, but due to the busy schedule of the Indian leaders, it has become difficult to make the necessary arrangements for these meetings.
In the face of the current economic crisis, India has taken steps to provide financial assistance to Sri Lanka and including 400 million USD currency swap, 500 million USD credit for fuel purchase and 1 Billion USD credit line India has recently agreed to provide a total of US $ 2.4 billion in loan relief along with other financial assistance, External Affairs Minister Prof. GL Peiris said. Stated. It has been stated that the Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa is scheduled to visit India for the second time and accordingly the visit will take place today. During the visit, Mr. Rajapaksa is scheduled to meet the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi as well as the Minister of Finance Nirmala Seetharaman. That was reported.
However, the sources said that they could not make an appointment with the Sri Lankan Finance Minister as the Indian leaders were busy due to a number of issues, including the forthcoming local elections in India and the new trends created by the crisis between Russia and Ukraine. Accordingly, a date has not yet been set for Basil Rajapaksa’s next visit to India.
