It is reported that the IGP has ordered to provide security for ASP Meryl Ranjan Lamahewa of CID and his Colombo official residence as well as his private residence in Galle with immediate effect.
It is reported that this situation has been caused due to a life threat being made to the ASP by an underworld leader. Following the notifications made in this regard, action has been taken to provide security to him and his houses.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Lamahewa was involved in the CID’s investigation into drug trafficker Makandure Madush and Kosgoda Tharaka. He was also involved in a number of other investigations including detention of Podi Lasii an under world figure who was in remand.
