The ambulance driver at Murunkan Hospital in Mannar, who was involved in drug smuggling, has been suspended from duty effective immediately. The decision to suspend the driver was made by Mannar Regional Health Services Director V. Vinod.

The driver, who also works at Vavuniya General Hospital, was arrested along with another individual for their involvement in trafficking 179 grams of ice-type drugs. They were apprehended by a group of police officers while attempting to sell the drugs at Murunkan school junction.

During the arrest, the ambulance driver reportedly resisted the police officers and bit them before managing to escape.
