Famous actress Damita Abeyratne and her husband Lenley Johnson, arrested on charges of financial fraud related to false promises of foreign employment, have been further remanded by the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court until the 24th of April.
The couple was presented before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today (17) morning, where they faced accusations of absconding from court after being denied bail. The decision to extend their remand was made following a presentation of facts by the Criminal Investigation Department, responsible for probing the incident.
Despite being held in prison on charges of fraud, Damita Abeyratne made a defiant gesture to the media as she disembarked from the prison bus, expressing confidence in her innocence.
