The Fort Magistrate Court has issued an order for the remand of actress Damita Abeyratne and her husband, who were arrested on charges related to financial fraud, until the 17th of March.
The couple was apprehended by the Criminal Investigation Department yesterday afternoon (04) and presented before the court today (05) afternoon.
Damita Abeyratne and her husband stand accused in a case involving fraudulent activities, specifically pertaining to deceitful promises of providing foreign employment opportunities. They voluntarily surrendered to the Fort Magistrate’s Court yesterday (04), only to be subsequently arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department upon exiting the premises.
