A crisis has been created within the Rajapaksa family turning into a political crisis soon after the passage of the 21st Constitutional Amendment in Parliament reliable sources revealed to Lankasara
Those sources added that Basil Rajapaksa has strongly accused Mahinda Rajapaksa of not being able to abolish the clause related to dual citizenship before the adoption of the 22nd amendment.

It is learned that Basil Rajapaksa has informed his elder brother Mahinda that he will not be involved in any political activities in Sri Lanka from now on and that the future activities should be carried out as per the needs of the Mahinda Rajapaksa group.
