The Defence Ministry has granted approval to detain Inter University Student Federation convener Wasantha Mudalige for 90 days to be questioned by the Police. Another two named Ven Galwewa Siridhamma Thera and Harshana Bhawanthu Gunatilleke, who was arrested along with Mudalige also will be detained and questioned.
Mudalige was arrested following a protest staged in Colombo on the 18th and the Police sought permission to detain him and investigate the matters related to the Galle Face protests which was started from 09th April 2022. .
Meanwhile, 16 others who were arrested following the protest were granted bail by the Colombo Additional Magistrate.
